Gunner Alfred Lumley CHAPMAN, Regimental number 37390, born Wellington, NSW, religion Church of England, occupation Station Manager, enlisted in the Australian Commonwealth Military Forces 20 February 1917, aged 27 and single. His rank on enlistment was Gunner and his Unit name was Field Artillery Brigade, Reinforcement 30 and they embarked from Sydney, NSW on board HMAT A15 Port Sydney on 5 November 1917.
Alfred's address was Lumley Park, Bungonia, NSW and his next of kin was his mother, Mrs Jane Rachael Chapman, Lumley Park, Bungonia, NSW. His rank from nominal roll was Gunner and his unit was 5th Field Artillery Brigade and he returned to Australia 4 July 1919. He was awarded the British War Medal and Victory Medal. Alfred Lumley Chapman married Violet B Levick at Hunters Hill in 1921.
Many of the photographs have been captioned, with both dates and an explanation of the scene. The album has been well preserved, with many of the images still in amazing condition.
