He served in Malaya, Signal Platoon, Support Company, 2 RAR between 1961 and 1963. Appointed the rank of Sergeant during the Vietnam War, he served in the Australian Army between the 12 December 1967 and 20 August 1968, a total of 234 days. His Unit was the 3rd Battalion, The Royal Australian Regiment.
