About this objectA marching compass, also known as a lensatic compass, is a specialised type of compass used for navigation, particularly in military and marching contexts. It features a liquid-filled capsule, a hinged sighting wire and lens, and a bezel ring for accurate bearing measurement. When fully opened, it can also be used as a slide ruler.
This compass is engraved on the base with "Ed Koehn Geneva Switzerland No. 21079 1915 ^ and around the front 'Verner's Pattern Vll.'
It has a magnifying prism fitted for precise angle calculation for accurate target engagement.
The leather case is in excellent condition with a little wear to the carrying strap. This is stamped 'LEATHERIES LTD' and is dated 1917 and also has a broad arrow property marked.
