About this objectThe Australian Soldiers' Gift Book was published by the Voluntary Workers' Association in c. 1918. The money received by the Association from the sale of the book was used in building homes for returned Australian soldiers in New South Wales, the labour required in the building of operations being contributed voluntarily. 146 pages including 25 leaves of plates, some coloured by May Gibbs, Norman Lindsay, B E Minns, Hal Eyre, D H Souter and all the usual suspects. Stories and poetry by Ethel Turner, John Le Gay Brereton, Roderic Quin, Henry Lawson, Mary Gilmore, and Dorothea Mackellar.
