About this objectCollection of badges -
The badge features "ACF" in red with a beige background and 6d underneath. The ACF stands for Australian Comforts Fund which was first formed on 24 August 1916 from a number of State based organisations that had been individually formed at the beginning of the First World War to send comforts to the troops. Its motto was "Keep the Fit Man Fit", in order to not duplicate the work of the Red Cross.
'WOMEN'S AUXILIARY R.S.S.A.I.L.A.'
Metal badge, yellow background with a green laurel wreath in the centre. In the centre of this is printed in red "APPEAL".
The "Womens Auxiliary R.S.S.A.I.L.A." refers to the Women's Auxiliary of the Returned Sailors and Soldiers Imperial League of Australia (RSS&AILA). This organisation was formed in 1916 as a welfare group to support returned servicemen and their families, particularly those returning from overseas service. The RSS&AILA later became the Returned Services League of Australia (RSL) in 1965, and the Women's Auxiliary continued to support the RSL's welfare work.
'THE AUSTRALIAN LEGION OF EX-SERVICEMEN AND WOMEN APPEAL'

Its primary goal is to foster camaraderie and offer support to those who have served in the armed forces. The Legion was formed in December 1944 from a number of existing organizations.
