About this objectThe NSW Railway & Tramway Sailors and Soldiers Ex Services Association Lapel Badge was a non-military Australian home front badge from the First World War made for the Returned Sailors and Soldiers Imperial League of Australia Badge. Today, the organisation is known as the Returned & Services League of Australia (RSL).
The centre of the badge shows the front of a train in raised detail, with the Rising Sun symbol in the background, and the words AIF (Australian Imperial Force). A blue enamel circle surrounds the central detail and has ‘NSW Railway & Tramway Returning Sailors and Soldiers Association ' in raised brass lettering. The badge is surmounted by an attached gilded crown. This membership badge is associated with an unknown person.
